Bruegger's Bagels will be closing it's Delaware Plaza location in Delmar on November 28th. The bagel shop has been located in the plaza since 1992. The decision to close was made by plaza management. In a statement to the Times Union, Delaware Plaza manager Debbie Murray explained their decision:
Their lease expired and we wanted to go in a different direction. Nothing against Bruegger’s, we just wanted something fresh and new.
Although not specific, Murray indicated the shopping center has another eatery lined up as a prospective tenant.
An employee of Bruegger's told the Times Union that the chain may look to open another location somewhere along Central Avenue in Albany.
Bruegger's was started in Troy in 1983. While there are five locations in the Capital Region, Bruegger's has bagel shops in several different states including Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Minnesota.
