The proposed Chick-fil-A in Latham has hit a minor speed bump in the approval process.
The speed bump? Traffic congestion! Town of Colonie officials have said that Chick-fil-A is working on resolving that issue so that the approval process can move forward.
One of the solutions that Chick-fil-A had offered up was to link the new location, which would be where Brick House Tavern and Tap is, with the nearby Applebee's and Starbucks to help with traffic flow onto Troy-Schenectady Road. However, Sean Maguire, Colonie's director of planning and economic development, says that Chick-fil-A needs to demonstrate to planners how access to that area would work or come up with a new solution.
Maguire was quoted in The Times Union saying -
"They're working through some of the things that we've discussed,"
At the moment though, the project seems to be at a stand still until a solution to the traffic issue is resolved. This proposal, by the way, was presented back in 2021. Hopefully, the Town of Colonie and Chick-fil-A can come to a solution for this issue and move forward with the proposal soon.
