You get to launch pumpkins hundreds of feet and get school credit, sounds like a pretty cool gig! Engineering students at Hudson Valley Community College held their 'PumpkinPalooza' on Thursday. Catapults built by the students were used to fire pumpkins at targets approximately 85 feet away.
Dr. Linda Lim, who heads up the STEM department at the school, tells NewsChannel 13 that the event is an exciting way to learn teamwork and process.
This gives the students a chance to learn all about engineering design and in a fun and really acceptable way.
If you'd like to see more pumpkins soaring through the air, you might want to check out this Pumpkin Chuckin' event in Schoharie County on Sunday 10/29.
